1) I know that you were the first Smith person I friended, but I don't remember how I figured out who you were. Possibly through the SSFFS lj. And as for why, because I figured that I should stop lurking.

1) I lurked on your journal for a while, not knowing who you were but aware that you were a Smithie in my social circle whose entries were funny and insightful and endearing, and then I realized that you were Talia and so I friended you.

3) You care about people a lot, and you make sure that they know it.
4) I think that the first time I ever really talked to you individually rather than in the context of the table was one icy evening first year where I was coming back from somewhere and I ran into you in front of Morris house, disheartenedly wavering across the slick ground and trying not to fall over, and I helped you back to our side of campus. You kept thanking me and I told you that it would be a boring trip if the conversation consisted of nothing but you thanking me and me saying you're welcome, and you pointed out that I could thank you, and so I did, and then the ice was broken, if you'll pardon the turn of phrase.

I guess I think something is successful if it evokes a physical sense of form, and and an emotional sense of purpose. And I suppose the art department's influence on me manifests itself in the fact that I can't really say it more simply ^^;.

it's not that eel grass itself is exciting, but it's part of an interesting process called eutrophication which, in a nutshell is, "pollution is bad, it kills stuff". And in that particular equation, eel grass is the good guy. And I love rooting for the good guy.

1) I knew who you were on lj for ages and ages as a result of a conversation that I had with you about something lj-related that probably occurred in the first week of our acquaintance, and after a while I decided that yes, you were my friend and I wanted to keep track of you so I might as well stop lurking.

4) I applied for a job in the computer labs even though it was past the deadline because you told me to go ahead and go for it. I'm really glad I did. Thank you.

I learned Elvish (writing) by careful examination of the appendices of Return of the King. As for Elvish (speaking), I used a textbook that was written for that purpose.
