Following long-standing tradition, my posts from home tend to be rather more boring, nitty-gritty, and down-to-earth than my posts from school. In this case, quite literally.

Due to one thing and another (no, really just one thing: my brother wasn't going to get back from the shore until very late, and he was being dropped off at dad's house), I stayed at dad's house last night, a night that I was not expecting to spend here. Between the two fitted sheets problem and the fact that it got really cold and windy early this morning, I gave up on sleep at about 5:52 and got up to tackle The Garden.

Four hours of work later, there are now tomatoes in the front garden. Dad will be bringing pepper plants tonight.

And I once again have time on my hands. I'm sitting here watching paint dry (literally, because I'm painting the woodwork for extra pocket money, and I can't recoat until tomorrow - well, actually tonight, but I'm leaving in half an hour, so tomorrow for all practical intents and purposes.

The painting is going well, but more slowly than my mom would like, since she paid $70 for the paint and so far I've only finished one door and some very nice detail-work on a railing on our porch. However, it goes slowly because I need to sand everything beforehand, but don't want to sand too far in front of my painting because I'm not going to finish the entire house before I leave for college, and wierd yellow-cream is better than half-sanded and partially puttied wierd yellow-cream.

Maybe you've gotten the impression that I haven't done anything lately but paint. This isn't entirely true. Yesterday I went to see one of the last showings of Wordplay with a friend. It was only showing in a theater a zillion miles away, and we paid as much for train fare as we did for the movie. We almost didn't go, but I'm glad we did. It's not a movie to see if you don't like crossword puzzles (since it consists of people making crossword puzzles, doing crossword puzzles while you watch, which nice special effects so that you can do bits too, little vinets about the lives of people who do crossword puzzles, and a big competition where people do timed crossword puzzles). The very cool thing - for me, anyway - was that the entire movie revolved around one particular puzzle where the theme was WordPlay, and I remembered doing that puzzle, and getting the gimics! I'm out of time now. Goodbye.
