I find it completely unacceptable to be heating buildings when the outside temperatures are approaching 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Not acceptable in this heat, not acceptable in this global climate in terms of our use of fossil resources, and not acceptable in this economic climate, when heating 30-some houses superfluously, means that the college will have to fire someone else and eliminate their position.

I had my fan on until 5:45 this morning, at which point my heater made those vague clanky noises that mean it would be heating if I hadn't turned it off at the floor. The hallway felt like an oven. The Washburn computer lab was so hot that it was unusable last night. No hot-like-the-sun-heats-it, but hot-like-the-heat-is-on-full-blast - and the sun was heating it. The window to the Lawrence House kitchen has been open for the past week because the room has been so hot.

Not okay.

I'm e-mailing Mr. FacMan. And submitting a budget forum note. And maybe e-mailing President Christ for good measure.

I agree wholeheartedly. A bit better distribution of both heating and cooling would be great at Smith. If you need to cool down, I recommend anywhere within Hillyer or CFLAC. Both are thoroughly over-airconditioned.
And I don't even have a fan!
