We went canoeing this afternoon and saw a beaver! I spotted it in a little nook, on top of a pile of branches underneath an overhang. It was sort-of next-to/beneath the athletic fields, for those who are curious. It wasn't the first time I've seen a beaver (I have, in fact, seen a beaver - probably that one - on that river before, but this one was out of the water and big. Also surprisingly well camouflaged; Gwen and Laura were in the second canoe and it took them ages to see it even after we pointed it out. Of course, I suppose it helps that beaver was moving when I noticed it, and when I pointed it out to Em, and then stopped when we showed it to the other two.

I did not see any fishies, although Emily saw some minnows. We did, however, see several grackles, a cardinal, a great many dogs (one of which was in a kayak), a male mallard, and a female mallard with seven ducklings that she was shepherding around. Also there are white fuzzies all over the pond; it almost looks like it has snow on it.

I have a large ball of yarn that I made myself. It looks like actual yarn. I'm quite proud of it.
