-Valentine's day is not nearly so odious when one is not in middle or elementary school. Or even highschool.
Don't get me wrong. I have no objection to there being a holiday for people in love; it's the popularity contest aspect that always drove me crazy when I was a kid.

-Yes, I hate paperwork, but I will get all my forms in on time. It's going to be okay.

-It's easier to get homework done during work when you remember to bring the book the homework is in.

-I had hoped that not having any evening shifts would mean that I wouldn't share shifts with the girl who watches the political news on the large tv - all the time. Ah well. It's only an hour a week, and I'm sure it's good for me to be informed. Even if, left to my own devices, I would only check in with the presidencial campains every two or four weeks to see who's still in the race. Perhaps it's wrong for me to be so apathetic about the political process. I do fully intend to vote in the presidential election (eek. If I'm in Spain, absentee ballot could well be a bother. I wonder if it's possible to go to the voter registration office and deal with that before I leave?), but to be perfectly frank, I DON'T CARE who's ahead this week, or how well Hillary did because of her tearful speech, or that what's-his-name has dropped out of the race and is now supporting what's-his-name.
This is probably the effect of being registered to vote in Pennsylvania. After all, what is the point of my caring about the presidential primaries? It's going to be a done deal before I have any say about it.

-Why must commercials be so annoying? Yes, if they're really bad I'll remember the product name, but only in that I resolve to never buy that particular item.

Oh, I agree. I have nothing against the holiday (in fact, there are aspects of it I like), but I do like the fact that it's no longer pushed in my face.

Ha, my feelings towards politics are much like yours. I do think I would have voted in the primaries, but I forgot to get an absentee ballot until it would have been too late.

And you're planning on going to Spain? Neat. I actually may be in Spain for the election in November, as I'd like to study abroad there next semester.

So, there are primaries, which choose delegates. each state gets so many. Then there are "super delegates".... democratic congresspeople, democratic governors, the democratic national committee, former democratic presidents....

The race is close enough so that the super delegates will probably make the decision.

So, yeah. Every state's primary is likely to matter.

don't worry, it's probably the only time your primary vote will matter!

: )
