Heee. Excellent observation on the "sir" and "ma'am" ing. I find that I use it more often after fencing myself. Especially with teachers. (Of course, sometimes it goes overboard in my brain, and I have a hard time NOT saying "Yes, Captain Randy sir!" to my Macroeconomics professor. He'd probably take it in stride, though.)
