He was old. I've been expecting it for years; wondered every time I left to go back to college if he would still be there when I got back.

That doesn't make it any easier to deal with, though.

My roommate's kitten at home died today as well. This is just not a good day for cats, apparently.

Based on the way the e-mail was worded, it's entirely possible that he died sometime last week or the week before and my neighbor only brought herself to telling me today.

I am so sorry. (Just reading this on Dec. 16). Some cats are well worth missing. He will leave you a high watermark of catdom.
