New and exciting kinds of ridiculous

"What would our favorite fictional females do with a jar that they couldn't open?"

Elizabeth's response is definitely "AAAAAAALEX!"
Alex comes running and frowns at Elizabeth and the jar. "Did you try opening it yourself?"
Elizabeth wheedles until Alex gives in.

Amity is a fan of the second-person theory. If there's no second person available, she'll bang on the edges of the lid with a knife handle, use a squeejie-thing on it, run water over it, etc.

Mrs. Crane doesn't open jars. She has servants for that. Or she used to. But she doesn't have any jars to open right now, so that isn't exactly a problem, is it?

Annie takes off one of her shoes and belabors the jar until it opens. Or until her hand hurts and she stops.

Jaclyn . . . Jaclyn wonders what respectable people do with jars that won't open, then gives up on that, makes sure no one is looking, pulls out a knife and systematically destroys whatever part of the jar is weakest. Probably the lid.

Mrs. Matsari glares at the jar, and it opens.

Ísabel sits quietly in a corner, struggling with the jar. After a while she gives up, unless she really wants to get at whatever's inside the jar, in which case she becomes increasingly more frustrated, possibly to the point of crying quietly while trying to get it open. Eventually Emgeri's mother, by which I mean her mother, notices and opens the jar. Or makes one of the brothers do it.

Eskari tries to open the jar the way she's seen humans open jars. If that doesn't work, she asks Elizabeth, "Are special way open container?" To which Elizabeth's response is, "You turn the lid counterclockwise and the jar clockwise. Er, this way," and makes motions with her hands. Eskari tries again. Possibly she accidentally breaks the jar. I'm not sure how strong she is. (And, okay, I suppose this one is maybe cheating, because Eskari's technically an it. But Elizabeth thinks Eskari is female.)

Nancy wishes the jar would open, and accidentally magics it open without noticing that that's what she's doing.

Mrs. Meyers talks the lid of the jar off. And Mrs. Tyler nods at appropriate places and makes the proper noises while she does, occasionally asking questions should Mrs. Meyers need any encouragement.
